Thirty-three
January 19th, 2010I’m 33 today and it’s the best birthday ever.
In fact, my whole life is better now than it has ever been in the past.
Thanks to God and everyone who helped along the way.

Got like 11 hrs sleep last night, I was catching up from only getting 2 or 3 the past few nights (which was making me cranky). Feeling pretty good and wondering why I don’t get sleep more often…
Old HS friend via Facebook:
Kelley: lol i do remember the time i made you take a drag off my cigarette for what was left of my happy meal…
Matt: lol, damn that’s 2 things in 2 days people have told me about my past that I have no recolection of AT ALL
Matt: does that make you feel like a big man pushing little Matt Meade around and forcing him to smoke? lol
Kelley : we were downtown… lol i thought it was funny… all for some cold fries and a chicken nugget lol
Kelley: i did feel bad about it a few years later when i saw you at the mall and you were smoking, you threw the cigarette in the trash and caught it on fire
Matt: wow, I was fucking badass
Bonus Material:
Kelley: i wish my grass was emo lol
Kelley: so it would cut itself… hahaha
Normally I have a very good memory, but today I bumped into someone (on myspace) I haven’t seen since probably high school, and they told me a hilarious story about something mean they did to me, which I don’t remember at all.
Either I somehow completely forgot an event (super-rare), they are confusing me with someone else, or they are BSing me.
Kind of weird, as I’m normally not forgetful about that kinda thing. They seem positive it was me. Did I block it out? lol Am I losing my good memory in my old age?
(…highway 404, as in “404 error – file not found”. Gosh I’m a geek…)
Here are a couple neat pics of my eye-bruises from LASIK surgery.
This is perfectly normal, harmless, painless, and goes away in a couple of weeks.
It is simply blood that has rushed to the surface when they held my eyeball still by exposing it to a slight vacuum.
I had my next-day check-up and wow, I see better now than I did with my glasses. 20/15 in fact, which is better than normal 20-20 vision.
Sweet…
This prompted me to dig into how vision is tested since I always assumed 20/20 was perfect and anything else (20/15 for example) would be bad. I also assumed that was left-eye (20)/right-eye(20) which also turned out to be wrong.
20/20 means that you see as well from 20 feet as what doctors consider “a normal person” sees from 20 feet.
20/15 means I see as well from 20 feet as a “normal person” sees from 15.
While 20/20 is average there is variation, and some rare people naturally have eyes as good as 20/8.
They estimate the vision of eagles at 20/2.
Everything went well in surgery, much better than I expected actually, it was a walk in the park.
Normally my eyes are very easily irritated, even just watching someone put in eyedrops makes them water.
But this was totally easy, no problem, and even though things are a bit hazy today I can notice the difference!
I randomly saw a LASIK ad about a free evaluation (some people’s eyes don’t qualify for it) and decided “Why not?”, it is one of my long-term goals after all.
Well I went in for my free exam and long story short, I am going in this Saturday (Halloween) to have it done!
I can’t wait!
Dentist today and oh my lord, the gas!
I seriously don’t remember the gas having such a strong affect.
I could practically hear Jimmy Hendrix music.
