That is an interesting read Dustin.

I disagree with the author on many of his points, but it's still an interesting perspective, and I agree with many of his points.

I thought I’d send this to you:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/bardallis/bardallis12.html

I agree with his view, as I didn’t vote. This is just something for you to think about. I will say this, however. I believe that voting is evil beyond what he proposes in his argument.

He states that voting is evil because you are encouraging a failed system to continue. My belief, on top of his argument, is that voting is created to make you feel like you have some sort of power. It is a slow, subtle control that is being exercised over people that do not realize what is happening. The emotion-filled speeches, patriotism, nice-looking candidates; it is all a form of hypnotism. A bit cliché, but a very real possibility is the book 1984. In the book, the Ministry of Truth rewrites history to accommodate the goals of the government. If you’ll notice, during the election, regardless of what you watched or listened to, they repeatedly said, “This is historical” or “This election will go down in history.” You are being told what is important over and over to such a degree that you begin to believe it is important. If everyone around you is having a doughnut, it is often hard to not have a doughnut.

The fact that people are being almost coerced into voting by making people feel guilty, feel social dissociation by , or feel weak and desire change are all methods of manipulation.

The act of voting, in my opinion, is not only harmful to us in the ways that he suggests, but it is also harmful to us in an individual, psychological manner. It allows your brain to get accustomed to relying on mass media to give you instructions about how you view life, and thus, lead life. We all have choices, and I feel that voting is one of the worst ones that you can make for yourself. You are in control of your own mind.
