Queen of the slopes (not a racial slur)
December 5th, 2007Gert went sleddnig for the first time today. It was awesome.
While adding the caption it occurred to me how many potential foot-in-mouth moments must be in winter sports where asians are concerned.
“Look at those slopes”
“What beautiful slopes”
“Yuichiro Miura is king of the slopes!”
“The germans are really tearing up the slopes today!”
“Canadian gold-medalist Ross Rebagliati conquered the slopes at the 18th Winter Olympics in Nagano Japan”
Has this ever happened in a major sportscast?
I want to see a reporter say something like that to an asian skier and get bitch slapped for it!
